NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS (“NAR”): VERDICT, SETTLEMENT, IMPACT
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
- This course briefly summarizes two leading cases against NAR, Burnett and Moehrl.
- It starts by explaining the story of Rhonda Burnett, Plaintiff and what happened to her that prompted her suit. It then describes the key allegations including a simple explanation of the antitrust law.
- Next, various NAR standards of practice that are singled out by the Plaintiffs are discussed. The actual verdict form is displayed showing the damages of $1,785,310,872.
- The course then delves in detail into all the practice changes that the NAR settlement calls for.
- Finally, we discuss the future of the real estate industry from a legal point of view. Topics include Department of Justice (“DOJ”) investigations, and several copycat lawsuits.
- Throughout the program we tackle frequently asked questions.
