Emotional Support Animals
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
- This program discusses what the landlords can do while renting their properties when faced with a request from a prospective tenant for allowing emotional support animal.
- We start with the discussion of the federal and state laws governing emotional support animals, the key question being whether there is a mental or emotional disability.
- Finally, we discuss actual cases that provide guidance in this highly charged issue.
- Throughout the program we tackle frequently asked questions.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Upon completing this course, the participants should be able to:
- Understand the Fair Housing Act, and its Florida counterpart;
- Guide their clients in adopting emotional support animal policies and procedures.
- Discuss the specifics of such policies including an application and an affidavit with their client.
